Acts 4

Where does this story happen?

Who are the people involved?

            1.

            2.

            3.

Problem - Acts 4:2  -  Why were the religious leaders upset?

            1.

            2.

Acts 4:3 - the disciples were imprisoned over night - but their testimony had effect - 5000 believed.  What are you willing to go through so that others may belief?  Today it seems many so-called Christians aren't willing to go through much to witness for Jesus.  (some won't even get out of bed sabbath morning let alone suffer for Jesus).   If what Jesus said is true, if what you have learned is true, if what you believe in your heart is true, if people need what you know to be true, then it seems it's worth any effort, any sacrifice, any inconvenience, any suffering, any late hours - to help them believe.

Acts 4:4 - Many believed.  It took time and effort and commitment from Peter and John to share so they could hear and believe.

Acts 4:5-12  What is the main concern of all the leaders?  Why?

What was the answer of the disciples?  Why?

Acts 4:13,14  What impressed the people the most?

Acts 4:16-18 - Secret meeting of the religious leaders - their problem - "How can they be stopped?"  Secret meetings these days, how can the truths of the Bible be stopped.  What a stupid question!  They can't be stopped.  Get on the train or be run over by it…..

Acts 4:18 – What was the solution that came up with to stop the disciples?  Was that possible?

Acts 4:19 – What was the response of the discipels?

Acts 4:22 - One of the things that impressed them so much was the fact that the man healed was 40 years old.  The older the man who is changed by Jesus, the greater the miracle.  The majority of new converts to Christianity today are teenagers and young adults.

Acts 4:27 - The people who were against the disciples are the same people who were against Jesus.  Nothing shocking to the disciples.  Jesus warned them about it.

Acts 4:29 – What did they pray for?  What happened?

Acts 4:31 - How many times do you need to be filled with the Holy Spirit?

Power of Personal Testimony -

1.      Can't be denied - Acts 4:16 - No one can argue against it or refute it

2.      Can't be stopped - Acts 4:20 - No one can make you quit sharing it

3.      Can't be human - Acts 4:7,21,31 - It's the result of God's action in your life

4.      Can't be taken for granted - Acts 4:29,30 - It's renewable every day.
